Stelios
Kazantzidis was one of Greece's top singer and was
considered the voice of the Greek
Migrant. He was one of Greece's top artists in the 1960's and 70's.
He has recorded many albums.
He
was born on August 29, 1931 at 33 Alaeas St, Nea
Ionia in Athens.
Stelios
Kazatzithis passed away in September 14, 2001
at the age of 70.
His burial site is in Elefsina Cemetery,
Elefsina, Attiki, Greece.
He
stopped recording in 1976 and
spent his time fishing which was his favourite hobby.
Kazantzidis made his
first nightclub appearance in the early 1950s in Kifissa. In 1952 he
made his first studio recording, covering a song by the famous
composer Apostolos Kaldaras.
He has worked with some of the best
known composers in Greece, including Manolis Hiotis, Yiorgos
Mitsakis, Vassilis Tsistanis, Manos Loizos, Manos Hatzidakis , Mikis Theodorakis,
Christos Nikolopoulos and
Stavros Xarhakos.

Such was Stelios Kazantzidis
emotional attachment to the people of Greece and its migrants, that
he was given a national funeral through the streets of Athens which
was broadcast live on Greek Television.
